BSA Babcock Street Pump Station

Buffalo, NY

JM Davidson Engineering, D.P.C. (JMD) was subcontracted by GHD to assist with the preparation of plans and specifications for the general site work, minor pipe system modifications, and maintenance and protection of traffic for the Babcock Street Pump Station Rehabilitation Project.  The Babcock Street Pump Station is part of the Buffalo Sewer Authority (BSA)’s Real Time Control flow control system.

The work performed includes:

  • Prepared Work Zone Traffic Control drawings including preparation of an off-site detour.  The off-site detour involved rerouting a truck route around low clearance overhead railroad bridges and was carefully coordinated with City and State stakeholders.
  • Prepared plans for the replacement of curbs, sidewalks, and driveways to accommodate the renovations to the subsurface pump station facilities and new access hatches located in the roadway and sidewalk areas.
  • Sidewalk replacement included upgrading existing curb ramps to meet ADA requirements.
  • Design for the replacement of existing twin force main outlets with a single 18-inch diameter ductile iron force main.
  • Design modifications to existing sewer manhole structures to accept the new 18-inch forcemain.
  • Reviewed submittals and RFIs related to the above scope of work.
